China Southern Airlines will fly four times a week between Canton and Budapest from 27 June.

In the video posted on Péter Szijjártó social media page, China Southern Airlines, one of the world's largest airlines, had announced that following preliminary negotiations, a new flight would be launched between Guangzhou and Budapest. The first aircraft is expected to take off on 27 June, with four flights a week between Guangzhou and Budapest. The number of direct passenger flights between the two countries will increase to 17 per week, making Hungary the absolute leader in the Central European region.

Szijjártó pointed out that Guangzhou is a metropolis of about 15 million people, the capital of the Kuangtung province, known as the factory capital of the eastern world, where corporate giants such as BYD, the world's largest electric car manufacturer, Huawei, one of the world's largest IT companies, and ZTE, Sunwoda and Eve Energy, which are also present in Hungary, have their headquarters and large factories.

"With such an extraordinary economic development and a population of 127 million people, we are now establishing direct air links. This province accounts for 10 percent of China's GDP," he pointed out.

Szijjártó stressed that the development of economic relations between Hungary and China is an important pillar for the economy's future growth. Therefore, the current announcement represents another resource and another milestone in this cooperation.

In the end, the minister stated that, just like for investments, there is also a fierce fight for such flights between the countries and capitals of the region, so it is a great success that China Southern Airlines has chosen Budapest.
